Our event uses a special end-of-round procedure to ensure that everyone’s games finish in a timely manner while also allowing the players to make decisions and understand that the end of the party is coming. This year, we are updating the rule set we used last year to allow for life gain strategies to exist without letting players game the system with tons of life gain to mitigate the end of round. You may recognize this card as a form of the card “Descent into Avernus” and it operates in a similar fashion. We want to again thank Serena Malyon for her art that we used to create this emblem.

From our testing, this results in games averaging about 90 minutes, with long games ending in under 120 minutes. We want everyone to have fun and not force players to wait for one table to finish up. This version takes the feedback from last year and improves it by allowing for life gain strategies and cards like Ajani’s Pridemate and Pest Mascot to still function while encouraging players to get into the red zone and deal damage. Note that if everyone sits around and does nothing, Seat 1 will die first, and Seat 4 will win the game, so players should keep their seat in mind when they choose who to attack and make deals with.
